About the Fest

As the one major event the group puts on each year, the fest is an important opportunity for us to get together and support each other in our own personal experiences in music.  Started in 1999 by Brad Thompson, the LDSmusicians.com email group decided to get together and meet each other in September of 2000 in American Fork, UT.  Since then there has been a fest every year but one in which the members of the group reacquaint themselves with each other and catch up on the latest projects the members are involved in.  These usually include a chance to jam together a bit and perform for each other under a summer sky and really enjoy each other's company.  It truly is an experience worth checking out if you haven't already.  The more people that show up, the more fun it is!

Join up and Join in!  Let's make this fun! Thanks!

Who we Are . . .

This is a planning site for the annual festival of the LDSmusicians Yahoo! group. Taken from the official group home at Yahoo! groups:

"LDSMusicians.com is a diverse group of musicians who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Activities of the group include an annual music festival Utah, and a [sometimes] yearly sampler CD series, "LDStyles", which features many artists from the list. LDSMusicians.com has given a voice and a family to many hopeful musicians across the world, and it's just getting started! This is a place to share opinions and resources on making music in an LDS context, and to share our music. We have established an environment of mutual respect and support, something we feel is critical to helping developing musicians flourish."

Why we're here . . .

Throughout this site, there are links to various opportunities to help with the fest. Whether you are able to come to Utah this year or not, there will be a chance to help and take part. The fest is an wonderful opportunity to put faces with the sig lines, reconnect with old friends and to reacquaint ourselves with why we make music in the first place.  In this spirit, I hope that my efforts here will be accepted as they are intended--as a labor of love to my fellow LDS musicians, and those who support us.

Thanks a lot!
